I love Shane's songs and music but it makes me laugh how many clips there are of him smashed out of his mind in a pub trying to sing. Everyone going silent like god himself is talking to them. He sounded ridiculous and embarrassing.

I loved all this music but I was only getting it way too late in my backwoods rural USA town- I’d get months old music magazines from the import store in the city and have to mail order albums based on reviews or recommendations because nobody played music like this where I lived. Before the internet it was somewhat harder to find non-local music! I knew there was no hope of any of these bands ever playing where I lived. I could take a plane (or an 8 hour car ride) to Chicago or Minneapolis if I knew someone was playing but I usually only found out way too late to go. The one time I found out Pulp would be in Minneapolis, I bought tickets right away, but then the day of the show my car died when I was still 2.5 hours away 😭

The series was good but there's nothing special about this 'special'! Most of the 'humour ' is no more than witless personal abuse. An old lady gets her pension nicked. Great days, eh? Jimmy Tarbuck has to be the luckiest man ever to make a living from comedy.
